First "Listen-Up" meeting held--more coming.

The first of a continuing series of meetings to find out what the members see as priorities for the next contract was held at Dorothea Dix on May 28. The first member from Dorothea Dix joined what I call the Contract Action Team.

Contract Action Team members are not asked to scream shout or jump up and down they are asked to talk to co workers that may not have time to get to a meeting and to bring back what they find to the coming negotiations team. No one should feel that they don't have a chance to have their ideas heard. C.A.T. members will probably be given a chance to be on the bargaining committee, the group that will advise the negotiations team about the members real priorities.

The Listen Up meetings will be held weekly in Bangor and soon they will be at more than one location. If anyone is interested in holding a meeting please contact NarsBars@UnionMaine.Org
If you are at Dorothea Dix you can talk to Anne Rogerson or Tom Maher.

This is going to be a very tough time and only with all of us working together can we protect what we have earned and make progress.
Ask about having a meeting at your work site. Ask a steward.

Bargaining Summit

All members of former bargaining teams have been invited to the Bargaining summit in Augusta on May 10. If you ever sat on a team, thank you, and please come. We are deciding how we want to bargain with the State and this is going to affect your job, your wages, and possibly your retirement.
See you there May 10.

Area One Blog opens to help members

This blog is being put up to help the members of the Penobscot Chapter of the MSEA-SEIU know when meetings are coming up. Who their officers are and to ask questions about their own interests. Maine is a big place and we have a large Union. This is just an attempt to break down some of the information into smaller more easily located bits.

You may thank Sharon Carroll president of Area one for wanting to do the best job possible to reach out to our members.
